Bargaining Update - Grievance Processes
The Unions and the
Company met today and discussions took place in
subcommittees on ways to improve the grievance
mediation process. Meetings went late into the
day at the executive level seeking a breakthrough in
the major issues including healthcare for active and
retired employees, employment security and work of
the future.
With only days left
before contract expiration, the pressure mounts to
prepare for the possibility that an agreement is not
reached. There are tens of thousands of members
without employment security. Our healthcare is
under attack. The Company is trying to isolate
us from the work of the future. What we will
agree to will be based on our strength at the table
and the commitment of our members to fight for our
issues.
Every member should ask themselves what they can do
to protect their career, their family and their
Union. Are you working overtime? No one
can work enough overtime to offset the losses the
Company is demanding at the table. The efforts
and sacrifices we make today will pay us back many
times over.
It is time for every single member to be part of the
effort to secure our future. Do one thing
everyday.
